Come and join us for a spot of gorilla gardening down at the Community Garden ! Highly visible clothing is recommended because the meadow is so lush with all the rain we’ve been having, small people like me could easily get lost in it!
Both the rhubarb and the potatoes are doing well, the jerusalem artichokes are struggling against the slugs and snails, and I’m afraid all that rain caused our onion crop to rot away. Instead we have planted some chard and purple sprouting and are trialling an anti-slug device. We have a number of tasks we can do on Thursday – weeding, more slug defences, earthing up the potatoes, finishing the brushwood panels of the compost bays, and working on the new bank. And if anyone brings any spare veg plants, then we’ll have some planting to do !
As usual, the session will run from 10:00 – 12:00. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. If you have tools, please bring them but you will be responsible for them. We will also have a selection of tools available.
Everyone welcome! Any queries, please contact Theresa on 07958 138053.
