Are you handy? Do you hate waste? Could you share your repair skills and give broken items a new lease of life?
We need skilled volunteers to act as ‘Fixers’ at a series of Repair Café events in Bournemouth.
Transition Bournemouth and Bournemouth Council want to encourage local people to consider repairing damaged items, even if they are unsure how, by ‘asking the expert’ at a Repair Café and learning new skills for next time as the item is fixed.
This initiative aims to reduce landfill, challenge throwaway culture, and bring together people from all walks of life in the local community to share tools, time, knowledge, and ideas.
We are looking for various ‘Fixers’ to give as much or as little time as they can spare, including people who are handy with:
– Small electrical appliances (including laptops and mobile ‘phones)
– Furniture/wooden objects
Not a repair expert but fancy being involved?
Repair Cafés also need welcome volunteers to act as a host or hostess. You provide everyone with coffee and tea, help new visitors at the reception table and act as a contact for the ‘Fixers’ and the visitors in the Repair Café.

Update 15/03/20: Please note that Bournemouth Repair Cafe events have been cancelled until further notice in the interests of minimising viral spread in this uncertain and quickly escalating situation.
We hope to be back up and running in July, and that our second half of the year can go as ahead as planned – will keep you posted!
When we can, we meet on the third Saturday of the month, usually in Bournemouth’s central library, in the Triangle
